For us it has been the STC/MS science curriculum--

Catastrophic Events--which includes hands-on lessons/inquiries with current links and applications to what is happening now.

Thank you for Russ k.'s consideration!

The STC/MS program you have mentioned will be helpful to teach general science for middle school students.

Living in California, we have our fair share of natural disasters.  I have found that the best way to teach middle school children about disasters is to give them information to empower them to act in the safest way rather than frighten them and cause stress.  We also rehearse what we would do in an earthquake, for example.
