It's more an instinctive thing: in fact even poor, or simple men, or average joes get laid. ;)
The fact is that in their mind women makee a simple equation, an equation embedded in every mind of every sex. "Would my mate be able to grow my children?".
There are lots of factors needed to achieve a solution. A man for example would, in his subconscious, look at an healthy, pretty woman sane and motherly, a woman would look at an healthy, rich, and powerful man, but because her subconscious will reason that a rich man can afford growing up her childrens, a powerful man had work hard to get his position, and he can pass it to his offspring, or teach them how to achieve the same results, same thing for a famous man.
But since humanity can outgrow his programmation, in the end a woman choose only the man she wants to commit. Eventually she picks the wrong one, an abusive one for example, or she picks a really good one.
But every man on Earth, and every woman, while thinking at finding his or her own mate to live happily ever after, in a little corner of his/her mind thinks at having a little baby.
